Caryota mitis is a tree with alternate, bipinnately divided leaves with open sheath. Its flower arranged as a pendant panicle. The flower has 3 sepal and 3 petals. Also, it is monoecious with male and female flowers. It fruit a drupe.

This plant only flower once in a lifetime. The fruit is harmful to human which may cause swelling of lips.

Question: If their fruit is harmful to human, is it also harmful for other aniamls, like bird ? Is its seed animal-dispersed ?
