Palms are perennial trees grown in tropical and subtropical region, their leaves are large and ever-green, either palmately or pinnately divided. Their stems are thickened by leaf scars. Inflorescence type is panicle with a spathe-like bract, fruit type is berry or drupe.

Palms are one of the most popular cultivating plants, they are important in human history as many common products like oil and food are derived from palms. They are widely used in landscaping also, making them economically important. They have the symbols for tropics and vacation nowadays.

As palms are mostly restricted in tropical and subtropical region, how can someone cultivate palm trees if they cold winters come? Are there any type of palm tree more cold-tolerant?
