This is straw mushroom and its scientific name is Volvariella volvacea. This is a kind of puffball. It carries out hemiangiocarpic development. The picture shows the cross sections of Volvariella volvacea, as well as the whole specimen which was cut in halves lengthwise showing the inner structure.
Volvariella volvacea belongs to Basidiomycota. We can observe that the muchroom consists of pileus, stipe and gill. There is also an universal veil wrapping it.

Volvariella volvacea is commercially cultivated. It grows fast and requires relatively low technology. It can be cultivated in the temperature range of 28 to 38ºC and relative humidity of 57-60%. Ideal temperature for spawn
run is 30-35ºC, while 28-32ºC for fruiting. Relative humidity of 80-85% is ideal for both spawn run and fructification. Paddy straw is the most common substrate. It can also be cultivated on cotton waste, cotton ginning mill waste, sugarcane bagasse, banana pseudostem etc.
Volvariella volvacea contains highest level of protein, as well as potassium, iron, calcium, vitamins of B complex.
