Tremella fuciformis (white fungus) is an edible medicinal fungus under the division basidiomycota. They grow in frilly masses on trees and they are slimy, translucent white and lobed when fresh. The fruiting body is gelatinous and the spores are borne over the surface of the lobes. The product of white fungus is often purchased dried and it shrinks and becomes leathery when it is dried. Although it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, the information on white fungus nutritional value is currently unknown.
