What are they?
The fungi in the photo are from the Phallaceae sp., or commonly named as stinkhorn. They are one of the edible fungi species (so we might have seen them e.g. the bamboo fungus on our dining tables!), and belong to the division of Basidiomycota.

How do we identify stinkhorns?
Their net-like 'skirts' are one of the unique characteristics that helps us identify them! In addition to this, their disguisting smell also makes them very distinguishable, which comes from a sticky gel called gleba that will be borne on the end of the stalk once their fruiting body matures. The gleba carries spores, and its smell can attract fruit flies for spore dispersal. (Well, I guess their smell gives a strong impression not only to fruit flies but humans as well, and hence they get the "stink" in their name stinkhorn. xd)
