The photos are of Spirogyra. It is a type of green algae, having a filamentous structure and an extensive chain of identical cells. It is non-motile. It has a distinct spiral-shaped chloroplast. Spirogyra reproduces asexually through fragmentation and sexually through conjugation. A conjugation tube forms between cells of two filament strands. The cell contents act as isogametes and one side migrates through the conjugation tube to achieve fertilization, producing a zygote.
