Description

Ixora chinensis, also known as Chinese ixora, is an evergreen shrub that belongs to the family Rubiaceae. It is common in tropical regions of Asia such as S. China, Malaysia and Vietnam. Due to its colourful perianths and its corymb inflorescence, Chinese ixora has always been one of the most popular ornamental plant species in horticulture. 
There are a few more species under the family Rubiaceae and they have very similar morphologies. One feature of the flowers of Chinese ixora is the shape of their petals. The tip of the petals is round and large, which is different from its close relative, Ixora coccinea, whose tip is spiky. Chinese ixora has no differentiation between petals and sepals. Perianth exists as 4 tepals of vibrant colour. The filaments are highly reduced, and the anthers are borne near the base of the tepals.

From the reference, it mentions that 'Calyx limb truncate or 4-lobed. Corolla yellow, orange, red, or white...' it means it has sepals and petals, rather than tepals.

The inflorescence type is not shown very clearly from the photos.
