Description
The photo on the left hand side is the longitudinal section of the ovary of Platycodon grandiflorus. The photo on the right is the cross section of the ovary of Platycodon grandiflorus. Together with the 2 photos, we can see that there are 3 locules and an axile placentation. Since its placentation is axile, the number of carpels is equal to the number of locules found in Platycodon (i.e. 3 carpels).
