Description

The photo 1 shows the salverform corolla of Catharanthus roseus / Periwinkle of Apocynaceae. The 5 petals are fused into a tube, the corolla tube. In photo 2, the 5 unfused sepals are shown which are at the end of the corolla tube. Photo 3 is the picture of the two nectary glands that are present. The five stamens are shown in picture 4 which are arranged in (3+2) form and are epipetalous. An example of adnation. Picture 5 and 6 show the two distinct unicarpellate ovaries. The sepals and petals are placed alternatively and it is actinomorphic and bisexual.

It exudes white latex when injured which is called being laticiferous. All the parts are toxic in this flower.
