Description

Basic information:
-Super family Leguminosae ; family: Caesalpiniaceae
-Flowering period: November to March

Vegetative features:
-Leaf: broadly cordate/ suborbicular
-grafting ring is often found on the trunk part 
-leaf arrangement: alternate

Flower features:
-5 purplish red petals
-the top petal has a darker stripes
-5 stamens
-Flower: bisexual
-Flower: no fragance


Interesting fact:
-This native species is the city flower of Hong Kong.
-The flower shape appears in the HK's regional flag.
-The famous spot in HK: Golden Bauhinia Square has a status composed of a man-made bauhinia model.
