Description

Male strobili of a Ginkgo tree at different stages at mid-April. Male strobili are catkin-like and borne on the short shoot. Paired microsporangia can be found at the tip of a stalk emerged from the strobilus axis. Pollen grains can be found in some open microsporangia in one of the photos shown.

Ginkgo biloba is dioecies, so the tree shown is a male tree.
