Description
Spirogyra is a kind of filamentous green algae. It is named for the spiral arrangement of the chloroplast. It can be found in fresh water. In each cell, there is a nucleus located in the center of the cell and several pyrenoids in the chloroplast which is used to produce starch. It can reproduce asexually by fragmentation and sexually by conjugation.
