Description
Psilotum (松葉蕨) produces a single type of spore (i.e. homospory) in a trilobed structure called synangium, which is thought to be resulted from the connation of three sporangia. Different stages of synangia are shown. Psilotum looks primitive and similar to fossil plants as it doesn't bear leaves or roots. But these could be a result of reduction from its fern ancestor.
Location
Specimens from the Greenhouse of School of Life Sciences, CUHK
