Description

Selaginella (卷柏), a lycophyte, produces megasporangia and microsporangia which are borne in or near the axils of well-differentiated sporophylls grouped as strobili. While the megasporangium and the microsporangium are similar in size, the megaspore is much larger than the microspore. Two megaspores, out of 4, from a megasporangium, are shown. Is Selaginella homosporous or heterosporous? Do you know if their gametophytes are monoecious (bisexual) or dioecious (unisexual)?
