Description
The photos show the fern gametophytes, which are tiny, thin and heart-shaped. Initially, a young sporophyte is attached to, and dependent on, the gametophyte. But soon the young sporophyte will become independent while the gametophyte will disintegrate. Can you compare and contrast the role of the gametophytes in bryophytes and ferns?
Location
Near the mushroom culitvation room, CC, CUHK campus.
