Description

The photo shows the reproductive structure, strobilus of Selaginella. It is heterosporous as two different types of spores (megaspores and microspores) can be found. Megasporangium produces megaspores while microsporangium produces microspores. 

Stalk labelled in the photo connects the microsporangium with the strobilus. 

Ligule is the scale-like outgrowth near the base of the upper surface of the sporophyll.
