Description

This photo shows a longitudinal section of the fruit of Prunus persica (Common name: Peach), showing the internal features of a typical drupe.

Drupe is a type of fleshy, simple fruit, and it typically consists of: 
- a single seed
- a thin layer of exocarp (skin-like, could be fuzzy or smooth)
- fleshy mesocarp
- hard stony endocarp
Other drupe examples: almond, apricot, cherries, coconut, mango, plums

*In this photo, the seed is missing, which shows that the seed and endocarp are really two separate structures not fused together.

Very clear description and well-labelled photo. Just one concern: I'm not sure whether this is the fruit of Prunus persica.

Nice Picture!
I think the following description can be added to further enhance this entry:

- A single seed (Stone-like, hard) which is derived from the ovary wall of its flower.

- The fleshy mesocarp is edible

Apart from that, very clear picture and good labelling.
