Description

This is the cross section of the asci of Morchella sp. under the light microscope and the magnification is X400. Asci are the finger-like structure within which ascospores develop in fungi of the Ascomycota.
In this photo, the red-stained structure is the ascospore and the structure containing ascospores is ascus. Below the asci is the dikaryotic ascogenous hypha.
