Description

Chara belongs to  Division Charophyta.  They are covered with calcium carbonate deposits on cell walls so they are known as stoneworts. They have nodes and internodes which is a special characteristic of it. It undergoes sexual reproduction and they have oogonium and antheridium. 
Crown cell, shield cell and tube cell are parts of oogonium which can easily differentiated from antheridium.
