How can you tell if the structures labelled as zygotes are zygotes, gonidia or young daughter colonies?

We can distinguish the zygote and the daughter colony by its size. The zygotes are usually smaller than the daughter colony. Moreover, we can find a nucleus in the center of the zygote if we observe it under the microscope under a higher magnification.
