Description
Hypanthodium is one type of indeterminate inflorescence. It means the flowers are attached to the wall of a concave capitulum. Ficus carica is one of the examples of species with hypanthodium inflorescence. No flower can be seen on the surface of fig. Flower can only be observed if Ficus carica is dissected because flowers are hidden in the syconium. Ficus carica is insect pollinated and insects reach the flowers by going through ostiole.
