Description
Laminaria sp. sporophyte has a high degree of differentiation into epidermis, cortex and medulla. The sorus of zoosporangia is on the epidermis. Fertilization of sperm and egg in the haploid female gametophyte gives rise to a diploid zygote which develops into diploid sporophyte. Meiosis happens in sporangia and produces haploid zoospores.
