Description
This photo shows the asci of Morchella sp., a true fungi of the phylum Ascomycota, formed during sexual reproduction. After fusion of antheridium and ascogonium, the dikaryotic hypha develop into a fruiting body called ascocarp in which asci can be found. 8-32 ascospores (darker in colour, oval in shape) will then be formed by meiosis of the diploid nucleus of each ascus, followed by mitosis.
