What a student member CAN and CANNOT do?
BEFORE logging in, a member CAN
- Search any of the database photos by tags or title names.
- Share the photo links with your friends through the social media plugins
- Discuss the photos by visiting our facebook page.
- Give your opinions by sending a message through our facebook page.
AFTER logging in, a member CAN
- Upload photos.
- Tag and write notes for his/her uploaded photos.
- Edit and delete his/her uploaded photos.
- Rate other’s photos.
However, a member CANNOT
- Edit, comment or delete others’ photos.
- Mark other’s photos with “Recommend” icon, or remove the existing “Recommend” icon. “Recommend” icon can be only labeled or removed by the teachers.
- Change the topic lists.
How do I upload my photos?
1. Go to “Login” in the menu bar to log in the system.
2. Go to “Upload Photos” in the menu bar.
3. Choose the Topic Name.
4. Browse and open your photo.
5. Fill in the photo title (required field), description and location at which the photo was taken.
6. Click “Next” button.
OR after logging in, you can go to “Topic” in the menu bar and click “+ Upload”. Follow steps 4-6.
How do I tag the photos?
1. Click on your uploaded photo to start tagging.
2. Relocate the box to the center of the feature/structure to be tagged.
3. Resize the box by stretching the right border and/or bottom border.
4. Type in the tag name. You can use the popular tags as references.
5. Click the floppy disk icon to save the tag.
6. To remove the tag, click the “X” to delete the tag.
How do I rate others’ photos?
Mouse over the star icons below the photo so that a desirable number of stars appear to be green. Then click to confirm your rating. Only your last rating will be counted, if you have rated more than once for the same photo.
How do I search a photo?
1. Go to “Popular Tag” in the menu bar.
2. Enter a tag name or photo title to the search box.
3. Click “Search” button.
Or you can got to “Topic” in the menu bar and browse the target photos under a specific topic.
Why my uploaded photo is removed from “BioPhotoSharing@cuhk”?
Your photos will not be removed intentionally from “BioPhotoSharing@cuhk” during the semester unless
- it is found to be completely irrelevant to the topic
- or it contains inappropriate content/ language.
Contact your teacher if your photo has been removed but neither of these reasons is valid to your case.
Can I share a photo from the “BioPhotoSharing@cuhk” with my friends?
You can share the photo link by selecting one of the social plugin icons above the photo.
Can I apply a member account if I’m not enrolled in the biodiversity courses of CUHK?
Unfortunately no. But you can still
- View the photos.
- Search any of the database photos by tags or title names.
- Share the photo links with your friends through the social media plugins
- Discuss the photos by visiting our facebook page.
- Give your opinions by sending a message through our facebook page.
